The Mother Emanuel Nine

image

June 17, 2016 will mark one year since the massacre of the Mother Emanuel Nine in Charleston, South Carolina. The days and months since have been quite tough. Despite our grief, we continue to rely upon God’s grace. We lament that the hateful roots of such tragedies still flourish in the United States. It is in these trying times that we reinvigorate the fire and activism that gave birth to the AME Church. Because we know God is a good and gracious God, we believe love will overcome hate.

The anniversary of this fateful day cannot pass without a pause to remember, reflect and refocus. Remembering in intentional ways honors those we’ve lost and presents our church community with avenues for continued healing and reconciliation. Whether you remember in a public memorial, Bible study, prayer service or in an intimate group setting – I offer the attached liturgical resources to you. I pray they will be useful to you and those with whom you connect.

  1. Thank you very much for all of the material to make a Great Program on remembering the “The Mother Emanuel Nine”
I will give this to the WMS officer for plans of a rememberance service.
Again Thanks very much. May our God bless and keep you in his Peace.

  2. Thanks for sharing. I miss Sharonda, Cynthia, and Sister Thompson though I actually knew them all just not as much. I miss them. I actually have been praying for all nine families affected by the tragedy. Jehovah rapha, the Lord God who heals continues to heal.

  3. Thank you for the resources, Rev. Belin. They are very helpful. I used the litany this morning. I just regret that there was another horrific, hateful mass shooting just this morning. This underscored the need for our prayerful vigilance.

Blessings to you! Praying for you, my friend!

  4. Thank you so very much for this moving remembrance and tribute to our brothers and sisters and their families. May the Lord bless you and all who by the Spirit created this tribute. Blessings of peace, grace, and hope.

  5. Thank You so much my brother and friend! The Mount will be utilizing these on Sunday morning! God Bless you, your ministry, and campaign!
